First Time Visitor Information
I am planning a visit. What should I expect Sunday morning?
How do I get there?
We are located at 205 West Fourth Street in Port Clinton, Ohio; at the corner of Fourth and Monroe Streets. Port Clinton is about 20 miles due west of the center of Sandusky via State Road 2 and 163. Use the form on the right to get directions to Port Clinton Church of the Nazarene.
Where do I park?
All parking is on the streets surrounding the church with some spaces on the street north of the church. The primary entrance is the front entrance. There are a few handicapped parking spaces located in the front of the church and the front and rear entrances are both open on Sunday mornings.
What do I bring?
Bring yourself and maybe a Bible, if you wish to follow along with the readings from your own. There are also Bibles and hymnals located under the chairs in the Sanctuary.
When do I need to arrive?
Church services are at 10:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. Come a few minutes early to park, hang up coats and meet our congregation, if you wish.
What do adults wear?
You are welcome to wear whatever you are comfortable in. There is no "dress code" at PCCN, but some people wear their "Sunday Best," while others wear jeans.
What do children wear?
Children should wear comfortable clothes. During Sunday School and Children's Worship they may spend time playing on the floor, or work with art supplies. Sometimes, they may go outside.
What is the service like?
The 10:45 a.m. service is more of a "traditional service" with readings, special music, traditional hymns, prayers and a sermon. If you are interested in a little more casual service, then you may be interested in our 7:00 p.m. service. Both services take place in the Sanctuary.
-
Readings and Songs - All readings, songs or prayers that the congregation may recite are printed in either the bulletin that is handed out at the service, in the hymnals and Bibles located in the pews, or projected on the screen.
-
Communion - On the first Sunday of the month we hold Communion. You do not need to be a member of the church to participate, nor do you need to feel obligated to participate. Communion is the time when Christians consume consecrated bread and grape juice as memorials of Jesus Christ's death and use it as a time to reflect on our relationship with God.
-
Offering - We do not believe in asking visitors to feel obligated to give to the offering. Also, do not feel that you would be the only one not placing anything in the offering plate, since many of our members give monthly or some other schedule and do not place an offering in the plate each week. Offering may go towards the general operation of the church or towards special mission projects on any given Sunday.
-
Sermon - Sermons are Bible-based and Spirit-led.
May our child stay with us during the service?
Yes, but children are also invited to attend our Children's Worship which is held during the worship hours.
Is your church accessible to people in wheelchairs?
No, but please don't let that stop you from experiencing God in our house of worship. We have handicapped parking spaces at the front of the church. The church is on two levels with steps, except to the youth room. Handicap restrooms are located behind the Sanctuary entrance. Please don't hesistate to ask an usher, if you need any assistance accessing the church. Call the church office, if you would like to have the Pastor visit with you.
